William J. Zacek “Pop-Pop”, 87, passed away at home, Saturday evening, on April 1, 2017.
Born in Rahway, NJ, Mr. Zacek grew up in Utica, NY and resided in Elizabeth, NJ prior to settling in South Plainfield in 1959.
He was well known for his witty humor and sharp mind, and was always quick to “Zacek-ify“ a project
with Epoxy glue or Duct tape.
A proud member of the Plumbers Local 24 in West Caldwell for over sixty years, he was also a proud member of the South Jersey Kite Flyers Association in Sicklerville, since 2000.
He enjoyed kite flying, doing jigsaw puzzles and other puzzles like: Word-finds, Jumbles and Sudoku. He also loved playing his homemade dice game, “Chicken”, and watching Family Feud.
He is predeceased by his sons Charles, Andrew and Walt Sr., and his siblings: Lillian Haberle, Frances Zacek, Frank Zacek Jr. and Charles Lesika.
Surviving are his grandchildren, Danielle Zacek and her husband Robert Lartaud,
Katie Jean Zacek–Sanchez and her husband Jay Sanchez, of South Plainfield, Walt Jr. and Matt Zacek of Flemington, and also his niece Audrey Brunt of Whiting and a host of extended relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017; from 7-9pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals at 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 with a prayer service beginning at 8:30pm.
Cremation Services will be held privately.
