Long-time Pharmaceutical Professional, History Enthusiast, Supporter of Veterans, Beloved by Everyone

Eugene Joseph Kosinski, 69, passed away from complications from cancer, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at home in South Plainfield.

“Gene,” as he was affectionately called by those who knew and loved him, was a kind and generous man. He was beloved by everyone who knew him. A life-long, New Jersey resident, Gene was born in Elizabeth, grew up in Linden and resided in Clark before moving to South Plainfield in 1978.

After graduating from AL Johnson Regional High School, Gene went on to Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the School of Arts and Sciences.

After finishing his studies, he went on to build a decades-long career within the pharmaceutical industry. He held various supply chain, operations and procurement positions at Rhone Poulenc, followed by HD Smith and Aspire Pharmaceuticals. Most recently, he worked at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, where he was able to combine his love of science, engineering, and working in a team environment.

Gene was intellectual, enthusiastic, and was always a historian in his heart. He passionately shared his encyclopedic knowledge about the Industrial Revolution and steam engines to those around him.

An avid collector of antiques, he collected hundreds of antique cameras, radios, and phonographs. Gene also supported and celebrated veteran causes, which included annual trips with friends to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City.

He is predeceased by both of his parents, Eugene Sr. and Annie Kosinski and is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Routel and her husband John of Readington; brother, Paul of North Carolina and his nieces, Candace Marie and Lisa Renee Routel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2-5pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals.

Funeral Services and interment will take place privately.
