Obituary of Geraldine D. Eggert
Geraldine Eggert, age 81, passed away on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022. Gerry grew up in Hoboken, NJ where she met her lifelong love Eddie. They belonged to the Salvation Army Church and Band. They relocated to South Plainfield, NJ in 1973.
Gerry was the founder and president of the women's Auxiliary for the South Plainfield Jr. Baseball Club. Ed and Gerry were involved in the baseball club for many years. Gerry enjoyed watching baseball games with Ed, gardening, and bowling. Gerry worked from home as a typist for many years raising her children. She was a blessing to the emergency room at Muhlenberg Hospital where she worked for over 25 years.
Gerry was all about family, starting with her six children and became a mother to so many, including her nieces and nephews. She was known for opening her home and heart to everyone, especially for the “trafalone” dinners. The family and grandchildren cherish the time they spent baking Christmas cookies, creating everlasting memories and traditions. 1204 Clinton Avenue went all out for the holidays between the lights, decorations, and treats for the kids.
The memories she created will last forever. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years (68 years together). She is also survived by her children: daughter Sharon Geczy (and John), daughter Cathy Eggert (and Danny), daughter Kim Strand (and Paul), son Eddie Eggert (and Renee), son Bob Eggert (and Lisa), son Keith Eggert (and Tina), sister Alice Aiello (and Bob). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Johnny, Jerry, Chrissy, Jennifer, Anthony, Connor, Robert, Joshua, Gabby, Tyler, Rachel, and Nathan. Great grandchildren Noah, Gianna, Gary, Gracelynn, Gemma, and Gavin.
She is predeceased by her sister Christine Pillsbury (and Roland), and her parents Chirstian Sprong and Helen Sprong.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and on Thursday, October 27, 2022 beginning 10:00am.
Funeral services will begin 11:00am in the funeral home on Thursday, October 27, 2022 followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
