Obituary of Marlene G. Arena
On October 27, 2022, Marlene (nee Devito) Arena, 88, received her wings and went to walk with the Angels.
Born to Alfred & Matilda on July 26, 1934, raised in Staten Island NY, she married the love of her life Vincent, and together they raised 4 sons.
Marlene was wonderfully devoted to her children Salvatore (Cherilyn), Jack (Deborah), John (Evelyn), and Vincent.
Marlene was immensely proud of her family. She was tickled pink (her favorite color) each time a new baby was brought into the world. She was generous, kind, and loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
She loved sharing stories of "the good old days" and we loved hearing them! Marlene was a fantastic cook, enjoyed knitting and of course the occasional trip to the casino; but what brought her the most joy in her life, was spending time with her family.
Above all, she was a loving Grandmother to Salvatore (Amy), Anthony, Mark (Gina) Patricia (James) Sharon, Paul (Katie), Kimberly (Johnny), Nicholas (Rachel) and a proud Great-Grandmother to Elizabeth, Paul Jr., Vincent, Lorenzo, Lilliana, Laila, James, and Olivia.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband and forever valentine, Vincent, Sr., son Vincent, Jr., her parents, Alfred and Matilda, sister Carmella, and brother Alfred.
Surviving are her three sons, Salvatore (Cherilyn), Jack (Deborah), and John (Evelyn); eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Marlene is also survived by her sister (and very best friend) Evangeline, sister Marie, as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
Dearest Mom, Grandma, and Gigi: We love you! We will all miss you terribly, but we find comfort in knowing that you are now in the loving arms of Dad (Poppy) and Vinny. Please trust that you'll be remembered in the sweetest memories every day.
A visitation will be held at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ, on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 3 pm to 5:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:30 pm.
