Obituary of Gerald A. Murrillo
Gerald A. Murrillo, 87, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, February 13, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville.
Born in Newark, Mr. Murrillo grew up in Summit and resided in Union before settling to Middlesex nearly 60 years ago.
While attending elementary school in Summit, Jerry formulated what led to an 80 year lifelong best friendship with Charlie Yannaccone and Walter Fader.
Jerry was known to have several hobbies and interests. As an avid golfer, on August 26, 2005 at Minebrook Golf Club, Jerry, alongside Charlie and Walter, accomplished his one and only hole and 1 on the 7th hole. He was also known to be a talented magician often performing magic tricks for his family and friends and he never missed celebrating one of his most favorite holidays; Halloween.
In addition, Jerry was a motorcycle enthusiast and always looked forward to his near daily trips to Favorites in Woodbridge to play the horses.
At the end of his day Jerry often spoke these words – I Thank God Every day for My Great Wife, Great Life and Great Family and I’m the Luckiest Guy in the World.
Predeceased by his brother Michael Murrillo Jr., Gerald is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Pamela Hnylycia (Michael) of Middlesex, Kathleen Murrillo (Andrea Warshaw) of Piscataway and Cindy Russo (Dean) of Clark; son, Michael Murrillo (Joe Farranoe) of Cranston, RI; grandchildren, Dana Goetz (Adam) Drew Russo and Michael and Jack Hnylycia and great grandchild, Salvatore Goetz. Jerry will also be missed by his two best lifelong friends Charlie Yannaccone and Walter Fader.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 4-8pm in the Middlesex Funeral Home 528 Bound Brook Rd. Middlesex, NJ 08846.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 beginning at 11am in the funeral home.
Immediately following the funeral service, Mr. Murrillo will be laid to rest at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
