Obituary of Elsie M. Solowynsky

South Plainfield – Elsie M. Solowynsky, 95, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at home in South Plainfield. 

Born to the late Joseph and Ida Malpere, Elsie grew up in Westfield and resided in Plainfield for many years.  In the late 1960’s, Elsie settled to South Plainfield with her late husband, Jacob.  A crossing guard for the Borough, Elsie truly loved her job and looked forward to helping cross the children daily.  She also volunteered her time with the VA, serving coffee and enjoyed taking care of animals especially dogs.  Elsie will be remembered as a good and kind hearted person.

Predeceased by her husband, Jacob Solowynsky and two children, Richard Solowynsky and Joyce Weldon; surviving are her son, Harry Mowrey and wife Charlotte of South Plainfield; niece, Patricia Walsh along with her other nieces and nephews; five grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family of Elsie would also like to thank her two caregivers, Sophia and Kate for their exceptional care.

Family and friends may gather in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 on Wednesday, February 22, 2022 from 10AM – 11:30AM.  Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM.

Burial will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
