We remember when we first met Miss Mary, how kind and accepting she was of us Polish ladies. She had an amazing spirit and her love of life touched us all. She would always go out of her way to help everyone around her. We have lost someone very special.
Forever in our hearts,
Ann Toporowski/Mary Luttgens

I will miss Mary so very much. She was so beautiful and kind. I have so many wonderful memories of her at horse shows. We would have such lovely chats over lunch. As we were ordering lunch she would say. “ is it to early for a glass of wine “. I would always say of course not. Let’s have a glass together. We would order red and she would tell me stories. I loved her stories especially about the little kids next door that she would watch. She would tell me how much she loved them and how they enjoyed the cookies. Her heart was so big and she was the consummate lady. She was always dressed to the nines. Her hair was perfect, her nails manicured, and a scarf wrapped around her neck to keep her warm and only sometimes smart shoes to keep her warm. Sometimes style won over warmth. Lol. I hope she is happy and spreading love in her new place. I will cheers to her at this years Octoberfest and my heart will forever love her. Rest in peace mary. Your friend betsy

Mary and I met at the dance school where my daughter Vanessa, and her daughters Lisa and Linda took lessons. We quickly became friends and spent a lot of time together when we took the girls to competitions. I would help repair the girls costumes and Mary always admired my sewing talents with such kind words. When Vanessa was ill and passed away, Mary always had some heartfelt words of support to help me through my grief. We continue to be friends, and met for dinner often. What a joy it was with laughter and souvenirs. She was always chic, never left her house without her makeup and her special hairdo. She was unique, thoughtful, and kind friend. I will miss her.
“Rest in peace Mary”

Mary was a dear friend of mine. We met almost 60 years ago when we worked at Remington Rand in Newark. We remained friends, exchanging Christmas cards, etc. About 20 years ago we started meeting for lunch once a year. We would meet at The Cheesecake Factory at the Menlo Park Mall and spend a couple of hours talking and laughing. Mary was a sweet, kind, thoughtful person. I will miss her. My sincere sympathy to Joe and her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Carolyn & Michael Iannaconi

WHEN I WAS YOUNG, MY DAD BROUGHT MY MOM AND HIS FOUR GIRLS TO SEE HIS SISTERS IN SOUTH ORANGE, NEW JERSEY ON MANY SUNDAYS. MY AUNT JEAN AND AUNT JAY'S HOME IN SOUTH ORANGE WAS A PLACE WHERE THE WORD "HAPPINESS" AND JOYFUL EXCITEMENT WERE FELT AS SOON AS YOU WALKED INTO THEIR HOMES! MY SISTERS AND I LIVED IN HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY AND VISITING OUR AUNTS AND COUSINS WERE SOMETHING WE LOOKED FORWARD TO. THERE WAS ALWAYS A SUNDAY DINNER THAT AWAITED US, AND OUR COUSINS WERE SO VERY SWEET AND LOVABLE. OUR COUSIN MARY THERESA ALWAYS GREETED US WITH HER SISTER EVELYN AND BROTHER BOBBY WITH SUCH SWEETNESS AND HUGS. MY SISTERS AND I WERE TWICE BLESSED BECAUSE MY FATHER'S SISTER JAYE LIVED BY, AND WE NOW HAD MORE COUSINS TO PLAY WITH. MARY MARGARET, SHARON, JOANN AND GARY. YES, SUNDAYS IN SOUTH ORANGE WAS HEAVEN TO ME AND MY SISTERS. WHILE MY COUSIN BOBBY PLAYED THE PIANO, ALL THE COUSINS WOULD BE IN THE LIVING ROOM OR OUTSIDE RUNNING AROUND A YARD FILLED WITH BEAUTIFUL GRASS AND FLOWERS. MARY THERESA WAS SO ENDEARING AND HER SISTER EVELYN SO VERY SWEET. MARY THERESA LOVED AND ADORED HER FAMILY, AND HER PRESENCE WAS ONE OF GREAT AFFECTION AND KINDNESS. SHE WAS SOFT SPOKEN, BUT YOU HEARD EVERY WORD OUT OF HER LOVING SOUL. SHE ADORED HER CHILDREN AND HUSBAND, AND SHE TRULY WAS AN ANGEL OF GOD. SHE ALWAYS MADE TIME FOR YOU TO LISTEN TO WHAT YOU HAD TO SAY AND TOOK SUCH INTEREST IN NO MATTER WHAT THE CONVERSATION WAS ABOUT. SHE WORKED AT DIFFERENT JOBS AND WAS BRILLIANT AT ALL OF THEM. SHE ADORED HER MOM, DAD, BROTHER BOBBY AND SWEET SISTER EVELYN. SHE WAS A DEVOTED WIFE, MOTHER, AUNT, COUSIN & FRIEND TO ALL. IF YOU KNEW HER, SHE WAS A "BLESSING" TO ALL THOSE WHO KNEW HER. HER LOVE FOR HER FAMILY WAS ONE OF DEVOTION, LOVE, FAITH, ADORATION KINDNESS AND RESPECT. I SHALL MISS HER, HER BEAUTIFUL EYES AND SMILE, HER TENDER HEART, BUT HER MEMORY SHALL FOREVER BE WITH ME AS SHE NOW FLIES WITH THE ANGELS~ MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY & CONDOLENCS TO THE ENTIRE BERRES FAMILY~ HEAVEN IS A LITTLE BRIGHTER FOR GOD JUST GOT ANOTHER ANGEL. HER NAME IS MARY THERESA CUSHING BERRES. GO WITH GOD MY WONDERFUL COUSIN, WITH MUCH AFFECTION AND ADORATION, BRENDA ABBATE

In the quilt of life, special threads are woven in. These threads become cherished friends like Mary; a beacon of generosity and soft-spoken gentleness from our Baltimore days. Embodied in our firstborn's Godmother role, her love radiated brightly. She seamlessly juggled motherhood and friendship with selflessness, often cradling my babies in her nurturing embrace. Her thoughtfulness was a never-ending source of comfort for us all. Now, she rests peacefully-- this pure-hearted soul we were fortunate to call our dearest friend.
