Robert was a wonderful kind soul even when he retired he told the new crew it the importance of helping others. He said whenever you can help someone else you have to do it. I think he knew this was the key happiness
Duke and I spent a lot of times together 30 yrs ago and again for the last several years after we were so lucky to reconnect
Robert ( what I had started calling him) was always there for me. I have so many memories with him and they go way deeper than just somebody to go to GD shows with. He taught me lessons about life ,love ,how to treat people the list goes on
I m missing my old friend and think of him every day. Just sad I can’t talk to him anymore .
So grateful for the time we spent together in recent years and how we always ended our conversation with I love you and I’ll talk to you later and he’d tell me I love you too
❤️ is real not fade away

In the time I had the privilege to know Robert, he exemplified resilience and warmth. Despite enduring significant pain , he radiated a bright light that touched everyone around him . His beautiful smile was a testament to his indominable spirit, bringing comfort and joy to those around him. Though he has passed , his memory will forever be a beacon of hope and positivity. Rest in Peace , dear Robert, you will be missed but not forgotten.

Robert and I worked together at the DPW before he retired in 2016. I will never forget his humor, kindness, and caring nature towards me. He had a new funny story to tell everyday. He made sure he shared these qualities with everyone around him. He was a fun person to be around and I will miss him dearly. My condolences are with his family during this difficult time.

I used to live with Bobby for a few years with a buddy of mine before the place he was living at in South Plainfield was sold back in 2018. Bobby was always relatable when it came to sports and athletics. He was always talking locally about South Plainfield Wrestling and was a big advocate on the local home town growth in that sport.
Since the house got sold back in 2018 I rarely kept in touch with Bob. Age gap and life circumstances...it happens. To all of his family I do send my regards and respect during this difficult time.
Nothing but love to you all.

To the family of my dear friend Bob G,
Thank you for the gift of knowing Bob, experiencing his infectious personality and warm laugh, and drawing strength and hope from his own personal story. When times get tough, I’ll always remember Bob saying “well, I’m going to keep going because what else is there to do?”
Sending you all lots of love and peace. May Bob’s memory be a gift to us all.

I was so so blessed to have him in my little circle of daily shares. Sharing my favorite memory of Bob was his desire to make you laugh. He shared his jokes from his popsicle sticks. Soar high Superman. Until we meet again. Betty Smith, Louisiana.

Q: How did you meet Robert?
A: Rob and I were friends as young kids- our parents were socially connected.
Rob was also a SPHS Class of 1976 classmate.
Rob was a manager and big fan of Tiger Wrestling, of which I was a team member.
Rob and I both worked for the Boro of South Plainfield, and crossed paths on a daily basis for many years.
A true friend and a good man- I will miss him- his big smile and cheery outlook on life, despite it’s difficulties…
Rest in peace Brother

was a lovely, lovely man. I only knew him through GA and he inspired me with his friendliness the very first meeting. I probably honestly would’ve left a meeting if he hadn’t been the way he was. He was so brave with all his troubles and still had a smile on his face and would say “it’s a beautiful thing!”
