Leticia L. Soto, known to her friends and family as Letty, passed away peacefully on May 14,2025 surrounded by her family at JFK Medical Center in Edison New Jersey.

Letty in summary is a true definition of a "pioneer woman". She completed her  Bachelor's Degree in Education in the Philippines and was working as an elementary school Assistant Principal when US opened opportunities to qualified educators, she took the challenge  and decided to move to Michigan in 1968, a feat that is uncommon for Filipina at that time. By 1971, she completed her Master's Degree from the University of Michigan and worked under the Department of Education until she retired in 1998 and settled in Maryland with her sister Erlinda. 

As the eldest child of 8, she was an example and an inspiration to her siblings and family.  She paved way for the rest of the family to follow and build lives in the US, every personal and professional achievement she celebrated. Her legacy will remain in the hearts of those who love her.

Letty was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Resureccion. Her brothers and sisters, Erlinda, Reynaldo,Romeo, Adelaida, Rolando and Teresita, and is survived by Edita.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St. Martin of Tours, 201 S. Frederick Ave. Gaithersburg, MD 20877, followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery, 11401 Brink Rd., Germantown, MD 20876.
