Obituary of Barbara Lyons
Barbara Lyons, 69, of Piscataway, NJ passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in Perth Amboy, NJ. Barbara was born on May 24, 1956 in New Brunswick, NJ to John and Mary Gross. She worked as a Payroll Administrator for Alltech Consulting Services, Inc. in Princeton, NJ.
Barbara’s faith was central to her life. As a devout Roman Catholic, she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in Middlesex for many years and most recently was a parishioner at St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church in Piscataway, NJ. She assisted those finding their faith through the RCIA program for many years. Barbara cherished the friendships she made through her years of devotion at both parishes.
Barbara’s true passion was her family. As a mother, she involved her girls in Girl Scouts and supported them in wherever their interests took them. She shared her love of the beach and watching the sunrise over the ocean. The joy of her life during her later years was spending time with her grandchildren: Ollie, Lexi, Izzy, and Maddie. She and Pop-pop would spend every moment they could making the kids happy.
Barbara was a bibliophile and logophile, often found reading or playing Wordle. She loved traveling to both new and familiar places and spending time with the ones she loved. Barbara had a way of sharing kindness and fun, which drew people to her, and made her beloved by many.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband Bob in January of this year. She is survived by her loving daughters Melanie Lyons and Kimberly Flynn and her husband Greg. Barbara is also survived by her mother, Mary Gross, sisters Linda Garza and her husband Paul, and Debra Langer and her late husband Tom. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
