Obituary of Virginia "Ginger" Pierce

Virginia "Ginger" Pierce South Plainfield - Virginia "Ginger" L. (Bundy) Pierce, 76, died on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Kearny, Ginger was raised in the Newark area. She studied fine arts and graduated from the Arts High School in Newark prior to settling in South Plainfield 43 years ago. Ginger had passion for oil painting. In addition, she was active in several organizations, clubs and had various hobbies. She was a member of the South Plainfield Suburban Women's League where she served as past secretary, The South Plainfield Senior Citizens and the Westfield Arts Society. An avid swimmer, Ginger was one of the original members of the South Plainfield Community Pool. Throughout the summer weeks, Virginia and her lady friends would gather at the pool for their weekly swim and chats Mrs. Pierce enjoyed playing tennis and was one of the founding ladies of South Plainfield's local Oxford Avenue Women's "CLUB." Ginger had briefly worked as a bookkeeper for the former Rickels in South Plainfield and for 43 has been a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church also in South Plainfield. She is pre-deceased by her husband Thomas who died in 2002. Surviving are her children; Virginia M. Pierce of Arizona, Jennifer Donohue and her husband Scott of California, Thomas J. Pierce and his wife Laurie of Hillsborough, Robert C. Pierce and his wife Elaine of Fredon Twp., and John H. and his wife Renee of Arizona. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 8 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
