Obituary of Catherine Katowich

Catherine Katowich "South Plainfield H.S. Lunch Lady" South Plainfield, NJ - Catherine (Szczecinski) Katowich, 88, died on Friday, October 23, 2009 at her home. Born in Staten Island, NY, she had been a resident of South Plainfield since 1950. She retired in February of 2007 from the South Plainfield High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. Prior to this, she had worked for Suburban Transit as a book keeper. She enjoyed playing slot machines in Atlantic City and could be found at any local bingo hall. She is predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1980, and by two siblings; Stella Lobay and Stanley Szczecinski. She leaves behind her loving children; Michael of South Plainfield, Barbara Paritte and her husband Jack of Middlesex, Cathy Nowicki and her husband Stanley of Mohrsville, PA and Thomas and his wife Sheryl also of South Plainfield, her grandchildren; Kimberly, Debra, Jacqueline, Nick, Thomas, Jr., Jordan Leigh, Jennifer, Lisa and Anthony and by her great-grandchildren; Kansas, Jake, Joey, Gwen, Gregory, Presley, Jason, Gino, Kayla and Keira. She is also survived by her siblings Helen Wroblewski of Atlanta, GA and Agnes Szczecinski.of Staten Island, NY. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 beginning 9:30 AM in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery located in Scotch Plains. Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Monday, October 26, 2009 from 3-6 PM.
