Dorothy Shevlin
South Plainfield - Dorothy (Hopta) Shevlin, 82, died on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at home in South Plainfield.
Born and raised in Newark, Dorothy resided in South Plainfield since 1950.
She worked as an operator for a few years with New Jersey Bell Telephone in Newark and later worked and volunteered at JFK Medical Center's Dietary Services.
An avid reader, Mrs. Shevlin took pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is pre deceased by her husband the late Franklin who died in 1975 and by her brother Charles Hopta.
Surviving are her 2 sons; Kenneth and his wife Susan of South Plainfield and Ronald and his wife Michelle of Skillman, her 5 sisters Margaret Amon of Maplewood, Katherine Kohl of Lanoka Harbor, Maryann Tierney of Delaware, Julia Szymanski of Whiting and Virginia Fernandez of Forked River, and her sister in law Patricia DeAngelis of Union. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren; Brian, Keith, and Ryan Shevlin and Erin Taylor and her 4 great grandchildren; Abigail and Benjamin Shevlin and Dylan and Conner Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
Relatives and friends will be gathering in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 beginning at 10:30 AM.
