Robert J. "Bob" Geary
South Plainfield - Robert J. "Bob" Geary, 76, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Joseph & Helen Geary, Bob settled to South Plainfield in 1961.
He is an veteran of the US Army, serving overseas during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in January of 1955. He was a member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post #243.
Employed by the former Consolidated Freight Co. of South Plainfield, Bob was as tractor trailer driver for over 40 years before his retirement in 2000.
Bob was a dedicated family man who enjoyed golfing and all sports. He played golf in the Piscataway Senior League and was a former member of the Plainfield County Club West Nine.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Kathleen (Conway) Geary, his four children; daughter; Janice Cornell and her husband, Stuart, three sons and their wives; Bob & Stacey, Jim & Kim and Mark & Barbara and three grandchildren; Erica, Brendan & Connor.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church. South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ.
Family & Friends are invited to attend the visitation hours on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donation in his memory may be made to Haven Hospice, C/O 65 James Street, Edison, NJ.
