Obituary of Robert Delgado

Piscataway, NJ – Robert “Welo” Delgado, 83, died suddenly at home on March 11, 2024.  Born in Cayay, Puerto Rico, Robert has been a resident of Piscataway since 1973.

 He served his country proudly in the United States Army and the Merchant Marines.  After his honorable discharge he began working in textiles and became the warehouse manager.  To keep busy after retirement he drove a school bus for Piscataway Student Transportation.

 Robert had an amazing green thumb and loved caring for his plants. His absolute favorite pastime was being with his family, all of whom called him “Welo”, especially his “8Th Street Crew”.

 Predeceased by his wife, Gloria, Robert leaves behind his daughters, Nancy (Karen) and Jeannie (Jay), granddaughters, Mariana and Denise (Malik), great-granddaughter, Callie, the extended Mayo family, in-laws, Joey and Franny, brothers, Tony and Quique, nieces, nephews, and their children.

 A memorial gathering honoring Robert’s life will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. All are invited to reflect on his life beginning at 2:00pm.
