Obituary of Gunasekaran Govindaswamy

Gunasekaran Govindaswamy, 64, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Born in Tanjore, India, Gunasekaran grew up in Chennai. He went on to study at the College of Engineering: Guindy, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and made lifelong friends. Following his undergraduate studies, he went on to earn a Master’s in Science at the Madras Institute of Technology. In 1987, he relocated to Massachusetts, where he studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, earning a second Master’s Degree.

Following his graduation from the University of Massachusetts, Gunasekaran went on to work at Syntron, in Marlborough, MA. He settled in New Jersey and worked in Wall Street. Later on, Gunasekaran worked for Prudential Financial as a Director for IT Infrastructure for 24 years.

Gunasekaran’s true passions were technology and cars. During his leisure time, he enjoyed his time spent on the computer. He also could be found watching Tamil shows, with his college friends, with his family, or with the two dogs, Mickey and Minnie. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

Predeceased by his father Govindaswamy, and brother, Rajasekaran, Gunasekaran is survived by his wife, Anne Govindaswamy and daughter, Aishwarya, as well as his nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his mother, Rukmani; brothers, Chandrasekaran and Gnanasekaran; and sister Rajeswari; along with a host of extended relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway NJ, on March 14, 2024 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Cremation services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, in Gunasekaran’s name.
