Obituary of Robert Steven Barnard
South Plainfield – Robert Steven Barnard, 59 passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at home.
Born in Plainfield, Robert grew up in North Plainfield, graduating from North Plainfield High School. He relocated to South Amboy for several years then Mountainside before settling to South Plainfield in 2000.
Robert started his career with as a manager with L’Oréal for 23 years, he then moved to Christian Dior for 9 years before retiring from Tramontane Produce in Piscataway.
Robert’s love for music was shared with his family and friends, he played bass for various local bands. In his free time, he also enjoyed riding on his motorcycle. Most recently, Robert took a ride up to Washington Rock.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Jean Barnard; son, Robert Barnard and wife Ashleigh; three step children, Dennis Peterson and wife Lucy, Cheryl Deschmps and husband Rick and Jonathan Tomassi and siblings, Rose Yancy, Bobie Sloan and Stacy Barnard.
He will also be missed by his five grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10AM – 12PM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
