South Plainfield - Michael F Roudi, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to the late Matilda and Frank Roudi he was raised in Newark, later married his high school sweetheart Lorraine Giuliano and raised his family in South Plainfield NJ, then retired and settled to Manchester NJ.
Due to his health, Michael retuned to South Plainfield to be with family and spend time with his grandchildren.
A Navy Veteran, he served from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1967. He served aboard the USS Saratoga as an E-3 engineer. After his discharge, he spent over 30 years working for Local 32- Heat and Frost Insulators located in Highland Park, NJ.
Michael loved to golf, spend time with his family, boating and being at the Jersey Shore.
He leaves behind his wife, Lorraine of 51 years, three children; Michael and his wife Donna of Texas, Kristine Giordano of South Plainfield and Leanne Salvatore and her husband, Craig of South Plainfield, and eight beloved grandchildren; Taylor Roudi, Dean Roudi, Olivia Roudi, Jake Giordano, Marc Giordano, JJ Giordano, Sophia Salvatore and Gia Salvatore. Also surviving is his sister, Arlene Stivali of PA. and six nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours beginning at 4 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 and concluding at 8 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield NJ 07080. (4-8pm)
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 9:15 AM in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield NJ 07080 at 10 AM.
Military honors will be conducted after mass and cremation service will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations in his memory be made to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, 195 Little Albany Street New Brunswick, NJ 08903-2681, 732-235-CINJ (2465) or https://www.cinj.org/giving
