Obituary of Ruth A. Haus

South Plainfield - Ruth A. Haus passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at home in South Plainfield. Ruth was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Ralph and Helen Lockwood on May 5, 1930. She was raised in Elizabeth and was a graduate of Battin High School. Ruth met the love of her life, Charles Haus, in Elizabeth and married in April of 1953. They moved to South Plainfield in 1958 where they raised their family and became an active part of the community. Ruth was retired from the South Plainfield Board of Education where she worked many years as a secretary for the Adult School and Child Study Team. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Charlie, and they went on many wonderful trips together. They particularly liked riverboat cruises throughout Europe. Ruth also loved animals and dogs in particular, and she and Charlie adopted many dogs that needed a good home. Ruth is survived by her husband Charles; three sons: Richard and wife Janice, Kenneth and wife Joanne, all of South Plainfield, William and wife Laura of Piscataway; and a sister, Barbara Lockwood of Monroe, NJ. Ruth also leaves behind six loving grandchildren, Thomas Haus, Lauren Haus, Jessica Haus Torres, Amy Haus Grivner, Shannon Haus and Daniel Haus; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Torres and Jack Grivner; her wonderful care giver, Julia, and her beloved dog Lucky. Visitation will take place in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 beginning 10:00 am. On Wednesday, August 9, 2017, funeral services will begin 10:30 am in the funeral home followed by mausoleum entombment at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Community Care Hospice, 110 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ.
