Obituary of Eugene H. Schlereth

Piscataway, NJ Eugene H. Schlereth, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Spangler, PA, Eugene lived in Berkeley Heights and Plainfield before settling to Piscataway over forty years ago.After six years of service to our country, Eugene was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Eugene retired from the South Plainfield Board of Education where he was employed as a custodian for thirty-one years.Eugene had a love for playing pool and was a member of the American Legion Post #137 of Dunellen and belonged to the VFW's of Dunellen and Piscataway.He was predeceased by his parents; Joseph and Lucille Schlereth and by one brother.Eugene is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy (Walker) Schlereth, two devoted daughters; Robin Cotto (Daniel) of Middlesex and MaryAnn Pruden (Bill) of Piscataway. He will be missed by his two dear siblings, six adored grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.Graveside services will take place on Friday, January 9, 2015 beginning 10:30 am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, 14 Chesterfield Arneytown Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
