Obituary of Leo F.J. Prohaska

Leo F.J. Prohaska, 84, passed away October 9, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he resided in Elizabeth and Roselle Park before settling in Piscataway in 1964.Mr. Prohaska proudly served an enlistment in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, a member and Past Chaplin of the Piscataway American Legion Post 261, Past President of Piscataway Little League, a Superchief Band Parent, an avid NY Mets fan, and an attendant for the Piscataway Funeral Home. Leo was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex where he was an usher and a member of the Knight of Columbus. Most importantly he was a devoted and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.Mr. Prohaska was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Prohaska who passed away in 2011 and by his granddaughter Bethany Prohaska who passed away in 1993. Surviving are his son, Stephen Prohaska and his wife Susan; His daughter Nancy Tamsula and her husband George, all of Piscataway; his brother Bert Prohaska and his wife Emilie Kudela of New York; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Bryan, Brooke and Kevin and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will begin Monday 9:00 am from the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by a 10:00 am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Leo's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarrierproject/donate.
