Obituary of Kirsten M. Burr

Kirsten M. Burr, 69, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison surrounded by her family. Born in Rockville Center, NY, Mrs. Burr grew up in Stewart Manor, N.Y. and lived in Puerto Rico prior to settling to Piscataway nearly 30 years ago. Kirsten earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University graduating from the top of her class and continued her education at Rutgers where she earned her Master's Degree. In addition, Mrs. Burr was a board certified Psychologist and held many certifications in her field. For over 30 years Mrs. Burr was a member of the Rivercrest Cabana Club in Piscataway and attended the club daily for her routine one mile swim. She also enjoyed spending many family evenings with her husband, children, grandchildren and many close friends. In addition, Kirsten was blessed with the ability to sing. During the 1970's she sang in several Off-Broadway productions. Predeceased by her husband Michael, surviving are her sons, Michael (Dawn Halifko) of Dunellen and Matthew (Daniella Buragina) of Piscataway; sister, Kim Roussey (George) also of Piscataway; brothers, Adelbert Protin (Susan Shechik) of Wanaque, Arthur W. Protin Jr (Barbara Howe) of New Zealand and Herbert Protin (Terri Barberi - Protin) of Randolph and grandchildren, Zachary Newsom, Kirsten, Michael, Elizabeth and Logan Burr and Hope Stramaglia. Also surviving are several loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Rd. Piscataway, NJ 08854. Interment services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11:30am in the Chapel at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
