North Plainfield- Susan Grabowski, 79, died Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ. Born in Ludwigsburg-Bad Cannstatt, Germany, Susan grew up in Germany during WWII. She immigrated via Halifax, Canada in the early 1950's with her parents. They joined her late sister, Marianne Buehler and her husband, Fritz who had come to the US several years before in Millington, NJ and then lived in South Plainfield, prior to settling to North Plainfield. A deli clerk for Food Fair and Imperial Delicatessen in South Plainfield, she was active with the North Plainfield Seniors and Meals on Wheels. Susan volunteered with the Big Brother Big Sister Organization, caring for many children in need. She especially was fond of and cared for Joyce Padillo, who she is survived by. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, who died in September of 2014, Jerzy "George" and sister, Marianne Buehler, surviving are her son, Lennard and his wife, Carrie of Succasunna; two grandchildren, Peter and Katie; two nephews, Werner and Greg Buehler and relatives in Germany. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10AM in South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 Interment will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday from 7-9PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Plainfield Seniors, donations can be made to the NP Seniors Club, 40 Willow Avenue North Plainfield, N.J. 07060-4548
