Obituary of Theresa D. DiSesso

South Plainfield - Theresa D. "Aunt Tessie" ( Butrico ) DiSesso, 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June, 25, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in South Plainfield, Theresa was one of ten children born to the late Frank Butrico and Anna Pellegrino; she had been a lifelong resident of the borough. She had worked at the DiSesso Market in the 1940's and later provided private day care in her home for many of the borough teachers and residents during the 1960, 1970, and 1980's prior to retiring in 1988. Aunt Tessie was honored at a mass for her 100th birthday followed by a large family celebration in her honor. She will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking, playing the lottery and enjoying time at Monmouth Park "playing the ponies." Her true devotion was to her family, specifically her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also showed great kindness and care to those in need. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph who died in 2001 and her siblings, Mary, Josephine, James, Joseph, John, Frank, and Carmen Butrico. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Harris and her husband, Frank, two grandchildren, Danielle Harris Lacasale and her husband, Joseph and Patrick Harris, sister, Grace Scala and brother, William Butrico. She will be sadly missed by her seven great grandchildren; Anthony, Joseph, Patricia, Stephanie and Christopher Lacasale and Sean and Nicole Harris as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. Funeral services will begin on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 9:15 AM in the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart RC Church at 10 AM. Interment services will follow mass at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family and friends may attend her visitation hours on Sunday from 4-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donation in her memory may be made to the "Neonatal Unit" at St. Peters Medical Center, C/O the St. Peter's Foundation, 254 Easton Avenue New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
