Obituary of Carmen Witter Mitchell

Carmen Sylvia Turnbull Witter-Mitchell, 93, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 31, 2016.
Born and raised in Galina, Jamaica, to the late Wilfred Turnbull and Vera Young. She moved to the United States and resided in Brooklyn New York in 1968. There, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse working in private care. In 1982 Carmen moved to Roselle, NJ, and continued as a private in home aide during her retirement, before settling in Piscataway in 2003. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and shared her love of literature by writing children's books. Carmen was an amazing cook and talented seamstress, who enjoyed spending quality time with her cherished family.
She is survived by her loving children, Keith Bardowell, Dewey O'Neil, Christine Witter-Stapleton , Lorraine Witter-Louis,Frederick Witter, Arlene Witter-Scrimmager, daughters-in-law June Bardowell and Claudette Witter, sons-in-law Luke Stapleton, Ernst Louis, Leon Scrimmager, cherished grandchildren Paula ,Karen, Derek, Desiree, Javon, DeShawn, Samantha, Wesley, Leah, LeAnn, Lilly, her great-grandchildren, Mya, Meadow, Marlowe, Drue, Maverick, and Isabella; Her dear sister, Evlet Turnbull, her nieces and nephews, Floyd Lee, Lamont Lee ,Georgia Lee-Connolly, Billy Chin, Glendon Delisser, Brad, Glen and Ian Turnbull, and many extended families and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6th 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Piscatway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway.
