Obituary of Walter "Chief" Heda

Somerset - Walter Heda, 72, known to many as "Chief," passed away with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his residence. Born in Belgium, he lived in Newark and Irvington, Piscataway for thirty-one years and has been a resident of Somerset since 2012. Walter worked as a Machinist for Whippany Actuating Services for 45 years. Walter lived a full life where he enjoyed every moment of it. He loved sports; especially the NY Yankees and Rangers. Walter liked fishing, golfing, gambling at the casinos, gardening and bird watching. He enjoyed time with the family on their camping trips and had a love for NASCAR, tailgating and horse races. Predeceased by his brothers Edmond and Jerry, Walter leaves behind his loving wife Diana (Frohlich) Heda of fifty-one years and their two children; Brian and his wife Kim of Massapequa, L.I. and April Caldwell and her husband Jack of Somerset. Walter will be dearly missed by his three grandchildren; Cameron Caldwell and Casey and Kennedy Heda along with his brother Valenty of Rahway and his four-legged companion Petey. Visitation will take place in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A catholic prayer service will conclude the visitation beginning 8:30 pm. At the request of the family, cremation will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
