Obituary of John W. Hamm

John W. Hamm, 80, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Phillipsburg, PA to the late James and Jane Hamm (nee Walters), John went on to join the United States Navy where he proudly served his country on the U.S.S. Forrestal. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he married the love of his life Stella Moskel, and settled to South Plainfield in 1968 where they raised their family. Mr. Hamm dedicated 37 years as a Warehouse Supervisor for National Starch Chemical Co. before his retirement in 2000. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Steelers with his daughter, fishing, and hunting with his friends, bowling, and most of all, the quality time spent with his family. Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Stella,his children, John Hamm, Kim Hamm and her spouse Greg Zambardi, his grandson Michael and wife Trisha, and grandson Joe, fiancé Leslie, his cherished great-grandson, Vincent, and his loyal companion Putter. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Funeral services will begin at 7:30PM at the funeral home.
