South Plainfield - Charles Koestner, 93, died Friday November 16, 2018 in Haven Hospice in JFK Medical Center, Edison.
A life long resident of South Plainfield, Charles enlisted with the United States Navy during WWII and proudly served his Country on the U.S.S. Canberra. He was a member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763, American Legion Post 243 and the First Baptist Church.
A historian of South Plainfield, Charles was active with the Historic Society. He loved to garden, woodworking and building bird houses and studying new topics.
Predeceased by his wife who died in 2003, Regina; surviving are his three daughters, Jean Marie Jones, June Ann Kaczynski and husband James and Jane Ellen Goldstone and husband Robert; six grandchildren, Bobby, Stephen, Deborah, Edward, Stephanie and Sarah and six great grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, Ethan, Courtney, Nathan and Alicia and a great granddaughter due in December.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 from 2-6PM with funeral services beginning at 5:30PM.
Charles and his late wife, Regina will be interred at a later date in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield, 201 Hamilton Blvd. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
