Obituary of Loretta Szaro

Loretta Szaro, nee Narel, 80, of Bayonne, died peacefully on January 6, 2019 at the Abington Care Center, Greenbrook. Born in Jersey City to Edmund Sr. and Helen Narel (nee Makowski), she was a lifelong resident of Bayonne. Loretta devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. She was very active with Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Bayonne for many years and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Lyceum. Mrs. Szaro was an avid reader, her incredible vocabulary made her one of the best Scrabble players who was hard to beat. She loved to sew and knit and knew her way around the kitchen making her Polish Cuisine. She was devoted to her faith and family, and enjoyed the quality time spent with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward J. Szaro in 2007 and her brother Edmund Narel, Jr. in 2017. Surviving are her loving children, Paul Szaro and wife Barbara, Cynthia Ockay and husband Clement, and Douglas Szaro, her cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Kimberly, Paul, and Ethan, her great-grandchildren, Helen and Lucas, her dear Mother, Helen Narel, her dear sisters, Jacqueline Marino and Elaine Myhre, as well as her extended family and friends. Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at The Church of the Sacred Heart, South Plainfield. Cremation services will be held following at Rosehill Crematory, Linden. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the funeral home.
