Obituary of Albert Holcombe

Albert S. Holcombe South Plainfield-Albert S. Holcombe, 80, died on Thursday, October 11, 2007 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Al was raised in upstate NY, and resided in Dunellen before moving to South Plainfield nearly 51 years ago. He was employed for 19 years as the Payroll & Tax Manager for Burns & Roe of Ordell before retiring in 1990. A Veteran of WWII, Mr. Holcombe served with U.S. Navy. Referred to as great fisherman, Al especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Nantucket, MA., gardening, bowling, and working outdoors. He was also a NY Giants fan. Along with all of his hobbies, for 15 years Mr. Holocombe volunteered at the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Al and his wife Hildred, had just recently celebrated their 53rd Wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, also surviving are his two sons, Bruce, of Beesley's Point, and David, of Egg Harbor Twp., his sister, Suzanne Nelson, of Lebanon, and his brother and sister-in-law, Ted & Shirley Holcombe, of Lebanon, PA. Also surviving are his 2 grandchildren, Geoffrey & Steven. Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield.
