Obituary of James F. Gallagher
South Plainfield - James F. Gallagher Jr., 59, passed away on June 29, 2019 at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ.
Born in Plainfield on February 18, 1960, Jimmy was a lifelong South Plainfield Borough resident.
A loyal Grateful Dead fan, Jimmy has attended hundreds of concerts with his friends throughout the United States. What he enjoyed the most was being with his friends and following both college and professional sport teams especially on Sundays during the NFL season. Jimmy is going to be remembered as a kind person who was always willing to help someone.
He is predeceased by his parents, James F Gallagher Sr. and Elizabeth (Flanagan) Gallagher; brother, Patrick J. Gallagher; his best friend and soul mate Patty Shallo and his two best friends, Scott DiDonato and Michael Santy.
Jimmy is survived by his sister, Kathleen Gallagher and brother, Timothy Gallagher both of Flemington; his nieces, Ashley Gallagher and her fiancée Dan Moore, Erin Gallagher, Megan Gallagher, and Melanie Stewart as well as his dearest Aunt Kathleen Toal, and step-grandson, Adam Johnson.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 5-8 PM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. Prayers and reflections will begin at approximately 6:00 PM. Cremation will take place privately.
