Obituary of Walter J. Janus
Walter J. Janus 87, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in the AristaCare at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield.
Born and raised in Newark, Walter had resided in South Plainfield for more than 60 years.
He served our country during Korea in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge and once he settled to South Plainfield, Walter worked for the Borough of South Plainfield Borough Works Department for over 25 years prior to his retirement.
Outside of his employment, Walter enjoyed tending to his pets working and model boats and taking care of his lawn which he took great pride in.
In addition, Mr. Janus was a form member of the South Plainfield Elks Lodge 2298, VFW Post 6763 and served as a Past Commander of the American Legion Chaumont Post 243.
Predeceased by his wife Patricia and a daughter Cathy Doyle, surviving are his children, Susie Ford and her husband Don of Phoenix, AZ., Walter and his wife Grace, Joseph and his wife Gloria all of South Plainfield and Mark and his wife Diane of Frenchtown; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 5-8pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10am in the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
