Obituary of Michael Katchur Jr

Piscataway, NJ – Michael John Katchur, 68, passed away on November 2, 2019 at the Somerset Valley Rehab and Nursing Center in Bridgewater. Born and raised in Perth Amboy to the late Michael and Wanda (Urbanski) Katchur, he spent his adult life in Piscataway. For over twenty years, Michael was employed with AT&T. He also worked at Baker & Taylor Publishers in Bridgewater. Michael grew up in the Catholic faith and continued his dedication as a member of the Knights of Columbus. His love of technology started in high school with his membership with the AV Club and carried through into his career in computer systems administration. He had a love also for historical and paranormal television shows and movies as well as football and basketball. An outgoing and loving person, Michael made friends easily. He was extremely close to all of his family and friends, and loved to share a joke or card trick with everyone. In his final years he became a grandfather and had a great love for his granddaughter, Jenna. He also loved animals, especially cats, and cared for several throughout his life. Predeceased by his daughter Alison Katchur, cousin Frank Oblinski, Michael leaves behind his daughter Kelly Sharkey, son-in-law Michael, and granddaughter Jenna, all of Jacksonville, FL, as well as two sisters, Ellie Rouxel of Lakeland, FL and Elaine Curtis of Paint Lick, KY and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Saturday, January 25, 2020 for a memorial gathering from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to share memories and stories about Michael during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to PetSmart Charities would be appreciated.
