Obituary of Josef Weirauch

Josef Weirauch, 83, passed away in the early hours of Monday, January 6, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Silesia, Germany to the late Otto and Anna (Gebauer) Weirauch, Josef became a US Citizen in 1965 and lived in both Piscataway and South Plainfield. After serving his country proudly as a specialist in the United States Army, Josef was honorably discharged in 1965. After many years of working as an electrician for Harris Steel, he retired eleven years ago. Josef could always be found with a cup of coffee in hand while tinkering around the house. He loved to stay busy working on his yard, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by four siblings, Josef leaves behind four daughters: Christine and Tony Bengivenga of South Plainfield, Sandra and Vincent Martinelli of Piscataway, Sharon and CR Stokes of East Stroudsburg, PA and Susan Raymond of Galloway. Josef will be missed dearly by his thirteen grandchildren: Tina, Tara, Kristyn, Stephanie, Paul, Raychal, Danielle, Michael, Jenna, Vinnie, Gina, Jillian and Alexa, eight great-grandchildren: Ayana, Gianna, Kayla, Kash, Julian, Lennon, Carmela and Michael Josef, as well as three siblings: Margaret, Adolf and Stefanie. A gathering honoring Josef’s life will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals at 2425 Plainfield Avenue in South Plainfield, NJ on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 11:00am until 2:00pm. A Catholic service and military honors will be held at 1:30pm.
