Obituary of Anthony Perna
Piscataway – Anthony Perna, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, one day shy of his 92nd birthday.
Anthony (known lovingly as Tony) was born in Chiaiamari, Italy in 1928. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 and resided in Orange, NJ with his beloved wife Teresa and their three children. About twenty-six years ago, Anthony and Teresa settled in Piscataway, NJ.
Anthony was known for his love of family and friends and for being a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He also helped other family members migrate from Italy and settle in the United States. He was a hard worker and provider. Anthony enjoyed tending to his large vegetable garden. He was also well known for making the best homemade red wine, a skill he learned from his grandfather while growing up in Italy.
He is predeceased by his wife Teresa of 67-years who died in February 2020. He is also predeceased by his son, John.
Surviving are his two daughters Ida Ciemniecki and her husband Dennis, and Mary Farias and her husband Michael as well as his three grandchildren John and Lauren Ciemniecki, and Jessica Perna.
Anthony was the oldest of fourteen children. Of those siblings, he is predeceased by four. The remaining two brothers and seven sisters are located in the United States, Italy, and France.
Funeral viewing at Piscataway Funeral Home will be private due to Covid-19 precautions.
Church services will be open to all family and friends who wish to pay their respects. Mass will be on Friday, August 7th, 2020 at Our Lady of Fatima, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway, NJ at 10:30am. Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park will also be limited to the immediate family.
