Obituary of Arlene Scofield
Arlene Scofield, 74, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville.
Born in and raised in Elizabeth, Arlene graduated from Battin High School which at the time was an all-girl school. She also resided in Middlesex before to settling to Piscataway with her family several years ago.
While growing up in Elizabeth, Arlene enjoyed spending time with her friends at Timmy’s’ Luncheonette and at the Twin City Roller Rink.
Mrs. Scofield’s very first part time job was at the A& P Grocery store. After working for A&P, Arlene began working for Midland Trucking. It was here where she met her beloved and best friend, Father Edward Szpiech. The two remained very close until his death in June 2019.
Arlene ended her career with the Hamamatsu Corp in Bridgewater after 22 dedicated years.
In addition, Mrs. Scofield volunteered for the Piscataway Little league and was also a Piscataway Superchief band parent for six years.
Arlene is predeceased by her parents, Phil and Helen Pyzik and her husband of 54 years Ron, who did just about everything together.
Surviving are her children, Donna Garry and husband Fran, Robert Scofield, William Scofield and longtime partner Jen Hibbs and James Scofield; sister, Mary Ann Dewald and her husband Ralph; grandchildren, Kristen Campbell, Stephen, Danny, Brian, Tyler and Bryanna, sister-in-law, Darlene Burack and her husband Gary and brother-in-law; Russel Scofield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 5-8PM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 07080.
Additional visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 beginning at 10am followed by an 11am funeral service in the funeral home.
Cremation services will follow privately.
