Obituary of Helen D. Johnston

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Johnston announces her death occurred peacefully on August 19, 2020 at the age of 96. She will be remembered fondly by her family. Helen was born in Plainfield to the late William and Alice Johnston. Helen lived in Plainfield, New Jersey within walking distance of Cedar Brook Park for most of her entire life.

She worked at Mack Trucks and for the Board of Education in Plainfield. Helen enjoyed fishing, gardening and in her youth was an award winning athlete.

Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Andrew Johnston in 1928 and William Johnston, Jr. in 2007; sister Edith Johnston in 2007; sister Catherine Bingert in 2008; sister Ruth Hunsicker in 2008; sister Alice MacNair in 2015 and sister Louise Colosky in 2020. 

Father John provided a Catholic graveside service at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
