So sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing. I caught it by reading a mention of it in the fishing report. I enjoyed reconnecting with him in recent years and reminiscing of youthful days in Newark. Also enjoying talking fish stories and seeing him not that long ago in Seaside. A great guy. Condolences to his family.

Well my friend it is finally hitting me that you won’t be sharing your watermelon, pickles, fish or anything you brought when you were out exploring. I will miss you teasing me and you batting those baby blues...most of all thank you for always watching out for Victoria and me. You amazed me with your love for your wife and your family. Who is going to walk me across the lawn? Rest easy Brucie..dance with the angels to your favorite Duprees song...until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

With love from cousins Doreen and Cindy Vitale. It was such a blessing to have finally met our long lost cousins. And even though our time together was brief, we are blessed to have the memories we made, the laughs and the love of family we will never forget. Bruce had a gentle soul and love of life that made us feel we were always connected. We will miss him dearly. Strength and peace and our love and any support we can give to family he leaves in this time of sadness.

To the Cuz,
Thanks for taking me to the river to catch the biggest trout of my life. Wouldn't have caught that fish without you suggesting we go fishing. Also, one of my funniest moments of my life driving down the NJ Garden State Parkway with the Cuz and his boat in tow. I look out the window to my right and see a tire bouncing up and down the exit ramp. To my surprise it was the boat trailer tire. I was dying laughing as Bruce's boat trailer was digging into the pavement. He was so pissed at me laughing and thought I was completely crazy. He made me get out of the truck and run after that tire. I did get it and we put it back on and actually made it to the dock to fish. However, the engine wouldn't start next, but we got it started and got to catch the famous NJ sea robin on my ugly stick. I will never forget those times and I will never forget the Cuz.

My memories of my Dad,
He was full of adventure. He was full of life. He loved being outdoors and he believed the closest thing to God was nature. For him, being out in nature was magical. He always tried to encourage others to do the same. He loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, clamming, and get togethers. He always loved going on vacation and could never wait to get back onto a boat (whether it was his or someone else's). He was a very proud firefighter lieutenant and he had skill and passion doing masonry work. He was proud being a father. He enjoyed being around family and friends. He had a passion for dogs (mainly beagles and shih tzus). He enjoyed being a part of beagle clubs and he served his country while being in the navy. My father is the reason why I have an appreciation of the great outdoors. He taught me how to fish, how to garden, how to be independent, how to stand up for myself, and encouraged me to have fun playing sports. He got me involved in playing both baseball and basketball. When he was free, he would play catch with me outside of my old house. He taught me how to go onto hikes in the woods and he taught me how to shoot a bow and arrow. My father is the reason why I have an understanding of what vacation is and I feel fortunate to have been able to go on vacation with him. I also enjoyed traveling out of state with him. While growing up, my Dad always tried to give me some helpful advice. I remember he always taught me to be a leader and not a follower. He also used to tell me, "Do not run in back of the pack for your viewing never changes." Dad, I trust you are in Heaven now, and I trust God has given you a good home and allows you to do what you always loved to do. Now that you are gone, I can only think of good things about you and I do miss you. I trust we will someday reunite. Thank you for the laughs and I will never forget you.
Love,
Philip

Although you weren't physically there throughout my life,
You were always in my heart.
You missed my birth,
My first words,
My first steps,
My first day of school.
You missed my graduation from middle school,
My learning to drive a car,
My high school graduation.
You missed my completion of basic training,
My wedding,
The birth of your first Grandchild.
You missed so much of my life,
But it was a great life
And you were always in my heart.
The first time I heard your voice,
My heart became even fuller.
When I found you, you gave me so much more.
I have brothers,
A sister-in-law,
Nieces,
Cousins,
And so much more.
You spoke to me while in tears,
And I knew you wished you had known.
I told you I loved you
And had for all my life.
You gave me a loving family who provided me with more than just love
My family loved you the moment they held me,
They thanked you for the gift of me.
When I was told you were dying,
I rushed to your side.
I stroked your hair
Told you I was by your side.
Though it hurt more than anything,
I told you it was okay to go.
My new family will teach me about you.
I've learned so much of me,
Comes from you.
So, although you weren't there
For most of my life,
I know you're at peace
And will watch over me forever.
Daddy,
I love you
Forever more.

RIP Bruce. About 37 years ago you started the Warren Township fishing derby to teach children your favorite passion... every year since you volunteered, spent your own money, made the calls and selflessly gave of your time to keep this sport growing. We had so much fun working together, I will never forget you.
