Obituary of Dorothy M. Leigh
Formerly of Piscataway – Dorothy M. (Fuhrer) Leigh, 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Brighton Gardens in Edison with loving family at her bedside. Born in Plainfield to the late Victor and Violet (Hunt) Fuhrer, Dorothy grew up in North Plainfield and settled to Piscataway in 1956.
Throughout her life, Dorothy worked in retail, but she thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She enjoyed knitting, word puzzles and jig-saw puzzles and in her earlier years, she liked to go camping.
Predeceased by her husband Robert in 2007, son Robert Jr., son-in-law Thomas Rinkus and her sister Doris Carlson, Dorothy leaves behind her loving and devoted family; daughter Carol Rinkus of East Stroudsburg, PA, sons; Douglas of Piscataway and Dennis (Suzanne) of Browns Mills, sister Fran Johnson of Piscataway as well as her seven adored grandchildren; Douglas Leigh, Jr., Jacquelyn Wilson, Dennis Leigh, Jr., Christopher Leigh, Matthew Leigh, Ashley Rinkus and Thomas Rinkus, Jr. and seven cherished great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 9am-11am at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 11am followed by burial at Lake Nelson Memorial Park in Piscataway.
