Obituary of Ruth M Nielsen
Richboro, PA – Ruth Marie (Nelson) Nielsen, 91, died peacefully at the Richboro Rehab & Care Center. Born in Plainfield to the late Emile and Helen (Schomp) Nelson, Ruth grew up in the New Market section of Piscataway and lived there until her marriage to the late Einer Irving Nielsen in 1951. Shortly after marriage, Ruth and Irving settled to Edison to raise their family. In 2014, Ruth relocated to Pennsylvania to be cared for and be closer to her daughter Carolyn.
Prior to marriage, Ruth worked as a secretary for the Prudential Life Insurance in Newark. She then dedicated her time to raise her two children; Carolyn and Ron. Later in life, she thoroughly loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished all the time spent with them.
For several years, Ruth was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church in Edison and assisted them with the women’s ministry group and later on at the Church Thrift Shop. She also belonged to the Senior Citizen Group of Edison.
In her spare time, Ruth had a love for gardening, baking, sewing and decorating her home, maintaining a clean and beautiful home. She loved to send beautiful cards and letters to all those she knew.
Predeceased by her husband Irving, twin sister Shirley Case, brother Robert Nelson and wife Noella; Ruth leaves behind her loving and devoted family; daughter Carolyn Sherman and her husband Robert of Langhorne, son Ron Nielsen and his wife Connie of Brick, grandchildren; Melissa Corso and her husband Frank, Monica Nielsen and significant other Sal, Andrew, David and his wife Alena, Steven and his wife Emily and Michael. Ruth will be missed dearly by her great-grandchildren; Evan, Logan, Julia, Abigail, Kate and Isla as well as her three nephews; Donald Nelson and his wife Nancy, Bruce Nelson and his wife Phyllis and Brian Case.
Visitation was held in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield and burial was taken place at the family plot of Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen. To send condolences to the family, please visit www.McCriskinFuneralHome.com.
