Brett Joseph Romano
Age: 42 * Bound Brook
Bound Brook – Brett Joseph Romano, 42, passed away in his sleep on December 28, 2020. Born in Somerville to his parents; Coni (Buono) and the late Joseph D. Romano, Jr., Brett spent most of his life in Middlesex.
A 1996 graduate of Middlesex High School, Brett worked for the family business; Romano’s Bus Service in Bound Brook for twenty years and currently was employed as a chef in the food industry.
A nineteen year member of the Bound Brook Elks #1388, he was proud to be one of the active members to help and assist within the lodge. He was a member at Our Lady of Mount Virgin in Middlesex, was an avid New York Rangers Hockey fan and spent many years racing BMX Motocross.
Brett was a driver for the Romano Racing Team for twenty-five years. Starting young at the age of seven, he competed in racing Quarter Midgets, Mini Sprints, Super Sportsman and finishing his career with driving #80R Sprint Car and was awarded Rookie of the Year at Lincoln Speedway and Port Royal Speedway.
One of his proudest moments and highlights of his career was driving the World of Outlaw Circuit.
Predeceased by his father Joseph D. Romano, Jr. in 2011, Brett leaves behind his family; mother Coni Romano of Bound Brook, sister Lisa Romano Brunges and her husband Walter of Edison, and their children; Dennis, Elizabeth, Samantha and her boyfriend Spencer Etienne and their son Andre, sister Danielle Romano Cooper and her husband Bill and their daughters; Kennedi and McKinley Cooper all of Middlesex and Brett’s step-daughter Mikaela Starr and her mother Jennifer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 beginning at 4:00 pm. A closing religious service will be held at 7:30 pm. At the request of the family, cremation will be held privately.
