Dear Heather & Family
When I received the text from a longtime mutual friend apprising me that Billy had passed away earlier in the evening on Monday, I was stunned and deeply saddened.
Billy and I had exchanged text messages on Thanksgiving as we typically did on most holidays. Never would I have thought that would be our last conversation.
At times like this, there are no words to truly convey the sadness occasioned by the loss of a spouse, father, family member or close friend. Though truly heartfelt, the pain causes them to ring hollow. Nevertheless, Linda and I send our most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to you all for your loss.
Billy was truly a special person. His warm and welcoming smile, together with his great personality and congenial manner, made it a pleasure to be around him. Over the years, though not of late, we spent a great deal of time together. Whether meeting at the shop before and after lunch, fishing the local rivers and streams, or hunting, we always had a great time. Unfortunately, as is true with most people, our careers, jobs, and families all pull us in different and distinct directions. We see each other less frequently for social purposes and recreational pursuits and wind up crossing paths only at funerals and weddings. Years go by in the blink of an eye. With Billy, though, regardless of when I bumped into him or how long it had been, we would talk as if we had seen each other the day before. In his last text reply to me, he wrote, "I miss all the good times we had." That feeling is truly mutual!
I will miss him and think of him fondly and often. I am truly honored to have been able to call him cousin and friend, the former by birth and the latter by choice..
I wish Linda and I could be with you all as we say goodbye to Billy, but the pandemic has changed the way we all live and interact.
Again, our love and sympathy goes out to all of you.

My sincere condolences go out to Heather and her family. I’m so sorry to hear of Bill passing away. My husband graduated with him and the one thing he remembers about Bill is that he always had a smile on his face. Heaven has received another angel.
