Obituary of Roland Lee Parker, III
Roland Lee Parker III, 74, passed away Monday, February 1 2021, at his home in South Plainfield, New Jersey. Roland was born in Rahway to Roland and Ann Parker (nee Fedeles) and lived in Colonia before moving to South Plainfield in 1970 with his wife, Kathleen.
Roland worked as a tool and die maker for many years and retired from The Schering Plough Corporation in 2009. He served as recording secretary of the Phoenix Lodge of IAMAW and Fire Chief of Schering’s Fire Brigade. Roland assembled his first car when he was 14 and taught himself to drive it. He enjoyed working on cars, and having inherited a ‘48 Chevrolet from his father-in-law, Roland turned it into his first hot rod. Roland and Kathleen enjoyed many rod runs and car shows over the years, seeing new places and good friends along the way.
Roland is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, his three adoring daughters, Suzanne (Michael) of Neshanic Station, Kimberly (Michael) of Fair Haven, and Stacy (Craig) of Fairfield, CT, and his ten grandchildren, Sarah, Julia, Amandine, Evan, Melina, Macalister, Roland, Sierra, Lucian, and Reece.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, February 5, 2021, 9:15 am from the Funeral Home followed by a 10:15 Funeral Mass Sacred Heart RC Church 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ.
