Obituary of Walter William Jones, III
Hillsborough, NJ – Walter William Jones, III, 64, known to many as Butch and Butchie, died on February 3, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital-Somerset in Somerville. Born in Irvington to the late Walter, Jr. and Dorothy (Czarkowski) Jones, Butch moved to Middlesex in 1973, Kresqeville, PA in 1988, and raised his family in Manville until moving to Hillsborough in 2015.
An auto and body mechanic by trade, Butch was the family handyman helping anyone in need. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, never missed a Yankee game, but his true passion was being a proud father to his three daughters.
He never missed a family event, always was there coaching his daughters softball games or watching the games, but also enjoyed supporting the Special Olympics, especially when his daughter would participate.
Butch was an exempt fireman with the Beechwood Heights Fire Co. 2 in Middlesex, serving the town of Middlesex for over twenty-years. He truly loved being a pop-pop to Charley and Felix, enjoyed spending time with his sons-in-law but and loved being married to his best friend and soulmate, Lori.
Butch leaves behind his wife of forty-three years, Lori (Barile) Jones and their daughters; Kelly Jones of Hillsborough, Kristin Comune and her husband John of Manville and Kimberly Ortiz and her husband Angel of Hillsborough. He will be missed dearly by his grandchildren; Charley Comune and Felix Ortiz, brother William Jones of Old Bridge and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
At the request of Butch’s family, all services will be private and a public memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations sent to the Somerset County Special Olympics (www.sonj.org) would be appreciated.
