Obituary of Carlos Cancel, Jr.
Carlos Cancel Jr. went to be with the lord on March 2nd, 2021, in the presence of his family.
Carlos was born in raised in The Bronx, New York, where he resided for 31 years before moving to Piscataway, New Jersey, where he lived until his passing.
His love of life and passion for living was reflected in his hobbies and his achievements. He loved to dance and listen to Latin music, collect vintage toys, go to the beach, play with his grandchildren, travel, and attend concerts with his wife. Carlos loved spending with his family. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He was self-taught in a variety of interests, from learning to play the congas, working on his classic car, to home remodeling. Carlos went to college at night and worked during the day to improve his life and that of his family. He taught them the importance of a good education and encouraged them to pursue their passions. Because of his example, his children have prospered and have passed that knowledge onto their children, ensuring his legacy will continue. Carlos received a BS from NYU and an AS from RVCC. He was a member of the Alpha Beta Fraternity and a Deacon at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Perth Amboy, NJ. In 2012, Carlos saved the life of a police officer in Plainfield, NJ and was later awarded the Civilian Life Saving Award.
Carlos is survived by Yvette, his wife of 40 years, his two children, Carlos Cancel and Loreal Cancel and their families, his siblings Jose Quinones, Gladys Pazmino, Isabel Shipmon, Carmen Cancel, Henry Cancel, and their families, his six nieces and nephews, his seven grandchildren, and the many loving members of his extended family.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who were fortunate to have him in their lives.
Visitation for Carlos will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 1-4PM in Piscataway Funeral Home.
