Obituary of Joan E. McArdle

Joan E. McArdle, 81 passed on Friday, July 2, 2021 at her son’s home in Middlesex.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Joan resided in the city before relocating and settling to Somerset with her family in 1977.

After raising her two sons, Joan entered the workforce as a substitute teacher primarily working in the Franklin Twp./Somerset School District before becoming the well-known Office Administrator for her sons  contracting business, McArdle Bros. Contracting in Somerset, NJ.

She enjoyed spending time vacationing with her family at her lake house on Lake Wallenpaupack in Hawley, Pa and was also faithful parishioner of St. Paul The Apostle RC Church in Highland Park.

In addition, Joan was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy RC Church in South Bound Brook and a former teacher of their CCD program.

Predeceased by her husband Robert James McArdle Jr. who died in 2018, Joan is survived by her two sons, Robert McArdle III (Mary) of North Brunswick and John McArdle (Mary Doty) of Middlesex and her eight grandchildren, John, Joshua, Patrick, Cullen, Christopher, Shyanna, Sarah and Isaiah.

Funeral Services will begin on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10am in the Middlesex Funeral Home 528 Bound Brook Rd. Middlesex, NJ 08846 followed by an 11am Funeral Mass at St. Paul The Apostle RC Church, Highland Park.

Cremation Services will follow privately.

Visitation will take on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5-8pm in the funeral home.
