Obituary of John J. Yard
Middlesex, NJ – John J. Yard, 83, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his bedside on July 26, 2021. Born in Jersey City to the late John T. and Mary (Hayes) Yard, John grew up in Jersey City then lived in North Arlington before settling in Middlesex fifty-two years ago.
An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, John proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Private First Class E3. He retired in 1999 from Lucent Technologies where he was a Senior Electrical Technician in the Fairfield office.
An avid outdoorsman, John had a passion for the Jersey Shore and fishing, especially shark fishing where he enjoyed entering numerous tournaments.
Predeceased by his two sisters; Maureen Goodman and Joan Yard and his beloved four-legged friend Max, John leaves behind his loving wife Joyce C. (Bono) Yard and their three daughters; Lori Butrico and Michael and Maria Butrico and Frank, all of Warren and Diane Lorah and her husband John of South Bound Brook. He will be missed dearly by his seven grandchildren; Frankie, Carly, Marissa, Alexa, Nicole, Danielle and Michael.
Funeral services will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, July 30, 2021 beginning 10:00am followed by an 11:00am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church Chapel in Warren. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 4pm-8pm and on Friday, July 30, 2021 beginning 9:30am.
