Leila Hishmeh, loved by all

Salma Leila Hishmeh, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, surrounded by her children.

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Leila moved to Jersey City and later settled in Middlesex Township where she lived for over 50 years.

She is predeceased by her husband Rashid who died in 2003 and her grandson Sean Hanna.

Leila was known for always putting others before herself, as well as sharing her generous spirit and hospitality to all. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, eating, laughing, and being together. Leila was loved by all she met.

She is survived by her children, John Hishmeh of Somerset, Rema Chepulis and her husband Tom of South Plainfield, Linda Hanna and her husband Jalal of Piscataway, James Hishmeh and his wife Laura of Hillsborough, Susanne Praschak and her husband Tom of East Brunswick,and Carol Gleason and her husband James of Rockaway; sisters, Grace Lama and her husband Jacques of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Alice Moustakas and her husband Stavros of Kearny, NJ; brother, David Sahar and his wife Maya of Franklin Lakes, NJ; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2 - 5 pm in the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday August 2, 2021 at Stonecrest Community Church, 11 Technology Drive North, Warren, NJ 07059.

Leila will be laid to rest following the funeral service alongside her husband at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
