Obituary of Marie Grace Franchak
South Plainfield – Marie Grace Franchak, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Perth Amboy to the late Frederick and Marie Sutter, Marie was raised in Woodbridge before settling to South Plainfield in 1959, where she raised her children. Marie made a career out of what she did best - selflessly caring for others. She started her registered nursing career at Community Visiting Nurses of Pennsylvania finally retiring from Woodbridge Developmental Center. One of the best times of her life was when she and her late husband, Frank were living in Philadelphia while he was attending pharmacy school.
In her younger years, Marie enjoyed playing softball. She also loved to read, especially crime stories and spending time with her family at the Jersey Shore. She will be remembered as the matriarch of the Franchak Family, devoting herself to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank Franchak; grandson, Craig and two brothers, John and Ricky; surviving are her three children, Judy Franchak and husband Tom Lokos, Beth Franchak and Dave Franchak and wife Elvira and sister, Georgene Pichalski and husband Ted.
She will also be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Jake, Ashley, Zach, Luke and Kim; great grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Tyler, Trevor and Lillanette; brother in law, Joe Franchak and wife Karen; sister in law, Sue Setter and many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved dog, Molly.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 9AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 5-8PM.
