Obituary of Maria A. Gomez-Dealzate

Plainfield, NJ – Maria A. Gomez De Alzate, 84, passed away suddenly in her home on May 11, 2022.  Born in Pijao, Quindio, Colombia, she resided in Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia until 1985.  In 1986, she immigrated to the US and settled to be with her family in Plainfield.

For ten years, Maria worked at a Packaging Company then decided to become a homemaker and take care of her loving family.  A very active eighty-four year old woman, she could never sit still.  She was either outside working on the garden, cleaning and organizing the house or going to the casino.  Maria loved scratch lottery tickets, listening to music but above all things, she enjoyed spending time with her family the most.

Maria leaves behind her four children; Jose Arley Alzate of Colombia, Maria Elcy Arias of Plainfield, Didier Alberto Alzate of Middlesex and Jose Aldeur Alzate of Piscataway.  She will be missed dearly by eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her siblings; three brothers and three sisters.

A memorial gathering will be held from 9am-12pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.  A prayer service will begin at 11:00am and she will be laid to rest at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
